YES -
The PCD™
is
designed to be used in conjunction with a
LOTS® splint when
immobilizing a fractured hip, pelvis or both. The
PCD™
cradles the injured pelvis overcoming the effects of gravity on the lateral aspects, effectively stabilizing injured hip/pelvis, while the LOTS® splint immobilizes the lower extremity as a
unit when integrated with the PCD™. The LOTS® splint applies "no pressure" against pelvis (limb root) region.
Use of a split litter type device (CombiCarrier®) will provide the additional lateral
support and a long-axis platform necessary for lifting and moving of the patient
without having to hands-on lift or logroll the injured pelvis.
