Frequently Asked Questions

Q.
Should PCD be used on suspected hip injuries?
A.
Yes - The PCD "Pelvic Compression Device™" is designed to be used when immobilizing a fractured hip. When placed over the trochanters "hip points" and secured using the self stowing kinetic compression strap, the PCDdynamically cradles the injured hip area, overcoming the effects of gravity on the lateral aspects of the hip, effectively stabilizing injured hip. To complete hip immobilization consider the use of a LOTS® splint on the lower extremity and a long-axis split litter device (CombiCarrier®) to provide the additional lateral and long-axis support of the injured hip.
