Yes - The PCD™
"Pelvic Compression Device™" is
designed to be used when
immobilizing a fractured hip. When
placed over the trochanters "hip points"
and secured using the self
stowing kinetic compression strap, the
PCD™
dynamically cradles the
injured hip area,
overcoming the effects of gravity on the lateral aspects of
the hip, effectively stabilizing injured hip. To complete hip immobilization consider the use of a LOTS® splint on the lower extremity and a long-axis split litter device (CombiCarrier®) to provide
the additional lateral and long-axis support of the injured hip.
